Though it may not feel like it right now, spring is coming, and now is the time to start thinking about tick prevention for your furry family members.
Once the temperature reaches 4 degrees above zero, ticks can become active, and start looking for food, and the best time to start discussing tick prevention with your veterinarian is before that happens. The most safe, reliable and effective methods of tick prevention are available from your veterinarian – both oral and topical medications, depending on your preference and your pet’s age/health status/lifestyle (a hunting dog, for example, might need more tick protection, for a longer period of time than a city dog.)
If you have questions about your tick prevention options, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic. Dr. Bardutz or one of our support staff would be happy to have a discussion with you.
Remember, the sooner you take steps to prevent ticks, the better!
